Honda enhances research & development department productivity with NVIDIA Quadro vDWS
Organizations with remote workforces need great user experience as well as greater scalability, data security, and simplified manageability.

Today, Honda R&D centers and factories around the world – from Ohio to Tokyo – are designing and developing in the new EWS environment powered by NVIDIA Quadro vDWS. Across all Honda group companies, more than 4,000 VDI systems are taking advantage of not only better application
performance and user experience but also the additional value of faster access to data and enhanced security of IP. Moving forward, there is an aggressive plan to migrate all client machines to the new system by 2020.

Bajaj Auto
Using ‘Spotware software’ to reduce time per spot

Spot Welding Software
Quality and Full Process Control

ABB offers spot welding RobotWare for creation of customized and easy to use function packages for different type of spot welding systems. The spot welding software is designed and tuned for optimized spot welding process together with ABB power robots families, IRB6620, IRB 6640, IRB 6650S and IRB 7600 and the spot welding equipment offered by ABB. The packages are seamlessly integrated, which ensures high quality and performance in your spot welding process.

The advanced motion and robot control secure a high-productive spot welding process. Depending on process and hardware there are a number of software options available.

To take on the competition, Bajaj Auto decided to upgrade the entire range of its 3 Wheelers and launched new series of models.  In new model chassis, the no. of spots increased from 186 to 217 nos., increasing the robotic welding line cycle time from 42 to 52.6 sec. Due to this, the capacity dropped from 50 K to 40 K per month.

We analysed the time required per spot and found that Robot takes total 7 steps to perform 1 spot and the time required is 2 Sec per spot. To reduce the time per spot, we adopted the “Spotware” software, due to which the time per spot can be reduced from 2 sec to 1.90 sec per spot. This reduction of 0.10 Sec per spot means total saving of @ 16 Sec for the total 217 spots in new model. The Robots interface control panels & welding gun were modified to adopt the software and with saving of total 15.7 sec. Using a detailed study of the existing 6 robots utilization & re-grouping of the spots and  one robot was added for balance spots. With this,  the cycle time was restored by adding only 1 robot without any major change in the cell layout and handling system.

Single-Pass Bore Finishing from Engis Revs Up Productivity for Motorcycle Gear Supplier

Tight tolerances are extremely important in gear manufacturing; even more so when those gears are used in performance motorcycle transmissions. Just as important is the ability to manufacture as competitively as possible. This was the position a motorcycle component manufacturer faced recently when they contacted Engis Corp. about single-pass bore finishing.
